Language schools usually assign a level based on your self-declaration at application time, but if that doesn't match your real level you'll either struggle or get bored in the first weeks. Taking a free online placement test before applying speeds up admission and avoids redundant course repetition.
If you have a certificate goal (e.g. B2 First or DELF B1), check the school's exam calendar before your application date - some centers only open exams seasonally.
